Boise Art Museum
This tactile map is an experiment and represents and extremely dense layout of galleries. Please see the descriptive wayfinding page for supplemental information.
Boise Art Museum Event Space
This is a tactile map of the Event Space, known as the Sculpture Court at Boise Art Museum. To the left is a vertical rectangle containing the legend with symbols and textures on the left and Braille explanations on the right. The symbol that says bar height seating is standard height seating and the symbol that says main bar seating is high top seating. Below the legend is a square QR code at the bottom left of the map that can be scanned for more information. To the right of the legend is the tactile map.
Moving to the right from the QR code we will encounter a triangle pointing north. Continuing to the right we will encounter a wall that we can follow to one of the entrances into the sculpture court labeled gallery entrance. Following this entrance, moving our finger up towards the top of the map, we will pass through another opening and we’ll be fully in the space with another gallery entrance, ramps, and stairs to our right, buffet in front of us, desert to the left and above the desert, the featured artwork, that can be touched, with the bar to the left of both of those.
To find the restrooms, move up and to the right, going past the rough curve representing the curved stairs.
Water Bear Bar
This is a tactile map of Water Bear. In the upper left-hand corner there is a triangle pointing north. Below that is a vertical rectangle containing the legend with symbols and textures on the left and Braille explanations on the right. Below the legend is a square QR code at the bottom left of the map that can be scanned for more information. To the right of the legend is the tactile map.
Starting from the QR code, move to the right, past the explanation of the QR code until you reach the word Entrance written in Braille. This represents the double doors into Water Bear. Moving our fingers to the right and following the line, we are tracing the wall of the hallway to the restrooms as well as passing the DJ booth on our left. Arriving at the bottom right-hand corner of the map we can trace upwards to find both restrooms.
Returning back to the entrance, we will pass the DJ booth on our right and we can turn our attention to the bar which is directly in front of us and to the right going up the map depicted by a vertical column of circles representing bar seats parallel to a vertical column of rough texture representing the bar.
To our left, across from the bar is a series of booths and tables.
One thing to note is if we start from the entrance and go up towards the middle of the map, we will encounter a wall in the shape of a letter S. This is because one booth has an opening to the left facing away from the bar, and one booth has an opening to the right facing towards the bar.
Note that beyond these two booths, above the S shaped wall is more seating in the back of Water Bear and therefore at the top of the map, depicted by five triangles in a horizontal row.
Other circles and triangles representing various seating types can be found throughout the map.
